OBITUARY

Mrs Ruby Mae Berry departed this life on Wednesday September 6, 1989 to take her place in God's Great Kingdom.

She was born on April 1, 1917 in Batesburg, Saluda County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Reverend David and Dora Harmon.

After graduating from High School Ruby left home to pursue employment in New York State. It was at this time during a visit to her sister's house in Philadelphia that she met and later married her husband of 48 years, the late Earnest W. Berry and from this union they raised 5 children, Earnest Berry Jr., now deceased, Joan Morris, Phillip Berry and Mary Berry of Philadelphia Pennsylvania and David Harmon of Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Moma was a very special person, she worked hard and long hours to help support her family down through the years, She was a person whom when asked, would tell you that she was not tired yet. She would always say, "just lean on the Lord and everything is possible.","Moma" as we called her, was child of God and she would let you know it in no uncertain terms.

Being the product of a religious home and the daughter of a minister, she instilled in her siblings the need to live by the good book; to endure as much as we could and when we were at our limit to go and let God take over, she gave all she had, not just to us, but to anyone who needed her. When times were the darkest, there was always Moma, now we have to let go and let God have her.

She leaves to morn: 2 sisters, Bertha Marshall of Philadelphia, PA and Cora Stancil of Camden, NJ; 2 sons, David Harmon of Gaithersburg, MD and Phillip Berry of Philadelphia, PA; and 2 daughters, Joan Morris and Mary Berry of Philadelphia, PA; 17 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gone but not forgotten, her memories will live forever
We love her, but God loves her best.
Sleep on Moma and take your well deserved rest.

Sorrowfully Submitted,
GOD Bless
The Family

EUOLOGY

We loved our mother very much. Moma was our protogue and mentor. She always went a step beyond what was needed and she always marched to her own drumbeat; never worrying what others might think.

She showed us through the way she lived her life, that nothing is as it may seem and everything in life comes from God and our beliefs. She taught us that life is hard, but it's also fair.

As she advanced into her later years, her will grew stronger, but her body grew weaker. Her memory was gone, but she still showed a fighting spirit to survive.

We felt her energy and it was energy that enabled us to conquer each day's battle; but in out hearts, we knew that our lives would never return to normal. We watched her grow weaker after each battle and even though she had won her battle, we realized that she would not win the war. In her eyes we saw her message of exhaustion.

The Lord knew that Moma would not be one to say "I'm tired and ready to go,"  so He took her when he felt she had fought and suffered enough. We believe the Lord told her, "you've pushed yourself a little to far, now I think it's time for you to come home and get some rest."

For the rest of our lives
Moma will always be one step ahead of us.

Acknowledgment

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent beautiful flowers; if so we saw them there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, that a friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Perhaps you rendered a service unseen, near at hand or from afar. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you very much.

Love and God Bless
