Pastor Phillip W. Davis Sr.
Pastor and Founder
David Jordan Harmon ABOC, was born at home in Bethesda, MD on December 7, 1970. His Father assisted his mother in his delivery, which occurred without incident. His mother, the late Vivianne Jordan Harmon, for the first five years of his life, took off from work, to devote full time to developing Dave's fun loving, kind, caring and giving spirit. It was during that time he learned how to love, care and unselfishly give to his fellow man. Dave embraced these values throughout his life and like his mother, as a free spirit walked this earth to the cadence of a higher tune, from a higher place. In this spirit, he requested his corneas be donated to the Lion's Club Eye bank for transplant, as his gift of sight to someone he loves but in this life will never meet.

Early in his life Dave became aware of GOD. When he was four years old, he pointed to the sun and said "GOD made the SUN and he didn't get burned either!" When he was seven years old he requested to be baptized, and gave his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

During his high school years, Dave participated in the Adventure In Science program, where he became exposed to the latest technology in science and engineering. Dave developed many projects, including an Ion Generator, and a spectrum analyzer to measure 275 watts of audio energy.
He received numerous awards in Science & Technology from the Dept. of Army, Navy and Marine Corps, the Defense Department, the Bureau of Standards and The Gaithersburg Adventure In Science Club. He designed, fueled and after numerous attempts successfully launched solid state rockets and rockets with highly unpredictable fuel. The rocket fuel was so unstable that Dave was the only one allowed on the launch pad!
In June of 1988 he graduated from Seneca Valley High School. While there he was a member of ROTC, and rose to the rank of ensign. He was a member of the crack Navy ROTC DRILL TEAM, which took first place honors in state wide competition. He was a member of the Aviation Club where he developed his
flying skills using a computer simulator. Continuing his aviation studies, he later earned his Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilots license at age 18. Dave passed the FAA examination with the second highest score ever, and to top it all off, on his first flight he made perfect 3-point landings in a Cessna aircraft to the amazement of his flight instructor.
After graduation, Dave majored in Engineering at Montgomery College. He was not totally satisfied, and subsequently switched to Criminal Law and then to Corporate Law, however, he still was not satisfied. Dave obtained by accident a part-time job at Pearl Optical, and was mentored by a doctor of optometry who exposed him to optics where Dave found his calling. Optics provided an outlet for the values of loving, caring and giving to GODS children instilled by his mother at an early age.
His engineering skills allowed him to perform amazing feats with eyeglass frames and lenses. Dave loved his new found calling, and his customers loved him in return. He has received over 126 letters praising his commitment to excellence. Dave's love for optics further motivated him to continue his studies and pass the most grueling and rigorous of examinations by earning the most coveted of certifications an optician can have, The American Board Of Opticinary (A.B.O.C.).
Cherishing his memories are his father, David Ervin Harmon Sr., half-brother, Doctor David Ervin Harmon Jr., half-sister, Carla M. Harmon, maternal Grandmother, Alethea Jordan Wells. He has earned his promotion to a higher place.

Benediction

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent beautiful flowers; if so we saw them there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, that a friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Perhaps you rendered a service unseen, near at hand or from afar. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you very much.
Love and God Bless
